Dr. Angela Cancel is the driving force behind our non-profit, SoBro Healing Center, Inc. Her journey to founding this organization is deeply rooted in her unwavering commitment to making a positive change in the South Bronx community. With a rich history in the very heart of the Bronx, Angela has witnessed the continuous struggles that her community faces in terms of health, economics, mental health, housing, employment, and education.

Born and raised in the South Bronx, she has not only experienced these challenges firsthand but has also dedicated over 15 years of her life to working within the community, making a tangible difference in the lives of the people she serves. It was through these experiences that Angela became acutely aware of the gap between the services that were needed and what was being provided by existing agencies.

With a background spanning two decades of working with families and a career in mental health that began in 2012, Angela recognized the pressing need for accessible, comprehensive, and compassionate trauma-healing services in the South Bronx. She believes that her community deserves more than just words and promises, but rather practical solutions that can truly make a difference.

As a result, she decided to take action, founding SoBro Healing Center, Inc. to offer free services that focus on healing trauma through various holistic approaches. These include mindfulness, yoga, massage, reiki, breath work, tapping, and educational workshops that raise awareness about trauma and how to heal. Additionally, SoBro Healing Center, Inc. provides short-term supportive counseling, emphasizing a holistic and well-rounded approach to healing that goes beyond mental health, encompassing physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.

Angela's dedication to the people of the South Bronx is evident in her tireless efforts to provide the community with the support, resources, and guidance they need to heal and thrive.
